US,India technology majors meet in Washington

Event Place: Washington

Washington:More than 70 technology companies, including leaders like IBM, Infosys and Tata Consultancy Services, participated in one of the year's biggest summits held to bring industry and the government together on a common platform.

Organized by the US-India Business Alliance (USIBA) and the Congressional Task Force on US-India Trade, the annual summit is one of the highlights of the technology events calendar in Washington.

USIBA president Sanjay Puri said, "The Annual Federal CIO (Chief Information Officer) Summit is a tremendous opportunity for industry and administration to interact and exchange ideas.

"USIBA and the Congressional Task Force on US-India Trade are committed to forging a strong relationship between the administration and technology companies from both the US and India at a time when IT-enabled services and e-governance are becoming an integral part of our lives," he said.

"The summit provided a useful insight into understanding needs of government departments as well as how to align our product lines and services to their requirements, while bidding for Federal contracts" said a participant.

Executives from some of the leading private sector organizations from across the US attended the event. USIBA said it would be arranging follow up meetings in the coming months.

The US-India Business Alliance (USIBA) is an independent advocacy organisation committed to strengthening commercial, economic and financial ties between India and the US.
