NASSCOM

NASSCOM is India's National Association of Software and Service Companies, the premier trade body and the chamber of commerce of the IT software and services industry in India. NASSCOM is a global trade body with over 1100 members, of which over 250 are global companies from the US, UK, EU, Japan and China. NASSCOM's member companies are in the business of software development, software services, software products, IT-enabled/BPO services and e-commerce.

As leading global companies look to India as an offshore market it has become necessary to upgrade the quality and skills of its workforce in order to sustain its position as a leading IT and BPO destination. To ensure that India retains it's competitive edge NASSCOM has joined hands with Hewitt Associates forces to create the NASSCOM'S Assessment of Competence for the Indian ITES-BPO industry (NAC). The NAC will address the dearth of talent by creating a robust and continuous pipeline of talent through a standard assessment and certification process in addition to providing insights for training and development needs. The NAC will also extend help to companies; governments and universities in planning customized development programs for greater access to training throughout the country. The certification program will support the industry and end-customers by providing them with employment standards and benchmarks.

This initiative will help BPO firms gain visibility among talent especially in the smaller towns and as a result increase the overall supply. Further, NASSCOM counsels State Governments and decision making bodies on pro ITES/BPO industries, defining core areas to accelerate the development process for this sector.
